“Are ‘We The People’ Willing To Treat The Cau$e, Or Will We Continue To Submit To The Symptoms Of Fear?”

By: Andy McGee, Liberal Columnist

You don’t have to look far these days to see that there is no short supply of fear mongering and emotional manipulation going on in our minute-to-minute lives. With the massive amount of information that we take in, it is easy to see how fear can affect our judgment on everything from the news and opinions we listen to, all the way to whom we vote for in our local and national elections. It is hard to deny the effectiveness of these haunting tools that can be used to control the masses. One basic example of how fear can control whole sections of society can be found when you look back on how long African Americans lived largely in complete submission of their light faced oppressors. Similarly, look at how many white people, particularly in rural areas, fear African-Americans today based largely on the differences in everything from social settings, to dress, and lifestyle.

My point in writing this is to ask a very basic question:

Is it possible that many, if not all, of the fears that we fall victim to in this Country are really just symptoms from a deeper and more sinister cause that should be our real concern?

I suppose we should start by identifying this dangerous, paralyzing strain, of viral information and manipulation? Is it our media, the politicians, some rouge militants that want to create division to take over our Country?

Or could it be the combination of a group of multi-billion dollar corporations that don’t sneak around, lurking and whispering about taking control in the darkest halls of our Nation, but rather just continue to benefit from every weapon we make, every soldier we deploy, and every vaccination that “we the people” must have to survive the next pandemic?

Now don’t lose me here. I am just asking a question.

You see, I think that corporatism in this world (notice I did not say ‘country’) runs much like our terrorist enemies; in that they can not be cast as members of a sovereign nation, but rather a group of rouge gorillas who all strive for a common goal.

In the case of the terrorist, it is fair to say that they want to level the west and bring the entire world back to the stone ages, or perhaps more appropriately, how much of the non secular world currently experience day to day life.

In the case of the corporatist, they have many motivations but none more than just to continue to divide and conquer. I am not suggesting that these major corporations, who specialize in everything from mercenaries, to life saving vaccinations, do so for the purpose of evil and oppression, but rather that the symptoms of evil and the oppression are just a side effect, or perhaps a necessary ingredient to do what they do: Continue to win and grow.

I, for one, see parallels between the terrorist and these World Wide Corporations as relevant and I ask another question:

Just because we don’t hear about this from our bought and paid for media, does it mean that these things don’t exist?

I recently heard a terrifying interview on a political radio show that suggested that President Obama’s alleged decision to send 40,000 more troops into an presumably un-winnable war in Afghanistan, was based on the fact that he is beholden to these major corporations, if not because they paid the largest chunk of his campaign, then out of fear that if he does not play ball, that he would at a minimum have a tough time winning re-election and at its most chilling level that he would share the same fate as both President John F Kennedy and his brother Bobby Kennedy.

After I shook off the chills from this premise I asked myself, why would these corporate powers use their resources and political muscle to bully this President into sending more men and women into harms way? Is it so we can deliver democracy to this ancient part of the world? To what, secure more consumers for all new products and services?

I started thinking about all those old mob movies and shows about what happens when you make a deal with the gangsters but didn’t live up to your end of the bargain?

John Perkins, author of Hoodwinked, was the gentleman who recently drew the above mentioned parallels between President Obama and the Kennedy brothers. The first a legendary figure in our Nations history, a true non conformist who felt he was not beholden to the corporate interest due to the fact that his campaign was funded mostly from his father. And Bobby, with the potential to be every bit as iconic, who himself would have likely been President; presumably picking up where his brother left off when his life, and efforts were cut short by violence.

I found Mr. Perkin’s opinions terrifying because his theory makes sense to me. I hate to think that President Obama, a man who has shown his reverence to our military, through his actions, time and time again, could be bought and paid for having nothing but the options of being a great leader destined for Martyrdom, or just another politician who will prove himself human 100 out of 100 times.

As someone who listened to, believed in, and with my vote and dollars, bought into true change; I am beginning to wonder if the type of change I sought, in our current day and age, is even possible. Or could it be just another tool to continue to preserve the illusion of a Republic in a Nation that has reduced itself and its liberties to a terrified people toting an impotent list of meaningless choices?

I truly believe that this Administration has an opportunity to be a true agent of change and betterment. Not just for this Country but for the freedom loving world. I suppose my real fear is that should this President continue to pursue such radical change; that I, as well as many other concerned Americans, will become disillusioned as the true decision makers of our time continue to call the shots for “We the People”.

In closing, I pray for this President, for our Military, and for our Citizens, and for our Country. That we may be wise in these times of uncertainty, that we may be patient, willing to make tough choices, that we may be United as “One Nation” moving forward together as One.
