You're SO on! I have several great books I've been reading about it. One's from a guy at Liberty, even! Just give me a deadline, Cap'n. ;)

Dear Abby (sorry, that was just too tempting),

Good points indeed. Washington's faith has often been the subject of ridicule. After a great deal of study, I believe Washington was in fact a Christian. He wrote that he often prefered to stay home on the Sabbath and study scripture and pray alone, rather than join in the "gossip" that was taking place at the local house of worship. Of course, we'll never know, but I believe Washington's faith was sincere.

Thomas Jefferson on the other hand...well, that's an entirely different subject.

So, it brings us back to an age old question:

Was America founded on Christian principles and beliefs?

Perhaps that would make for an AMAZING topic for your next article...

Your fans (including me) have been waiting too long for another peek inside the brilliant (and somewhat liberal...hehe) mind of Mrs. Abigail Adams!

I agree with the previous posters. Glenn Beck has little interest in uniting the country, unless it's under his banner.

My favorite part is how he chose a quote from George Washington to represent America's collective faith in God (which omits the numbers of agnostic and atheist Americans among us--so much for unity). There are historical questions surrounding the nature of GW's (the original) faith, including doubts about his participation in communion, his belief in the Trinity, etc. Once again Beck, a conservative, finds some way to beckon us back to the toothless civil religion of the founding fathers (one that made slavery and subjugation of women palatable and even acceptable).

If Glenn Beck wants us all to huddle under the meeting tent of Unitarian Universalism, he can keep his "principles" for those less principled than Christ-followers.

It’s as practical as having Michael Jackson lead a "lets stop pedophilia" movement.

I used to think when I watched GB blubber and sniffle pathetically on his show that he was like Winston Smith (1984)A tear in his eye for Big Brother? The more I watch now the more I realize that he is being left behind by the corporate forces he has defended all these years. I used to think "dude, this cat has been brain washed or something" and maybe he was. All I know is that his latest tear fest was as contrived and orchestrated as I have seen since, well since the last time he did it.

Like the sensible Mr. Forbis said, I don’t want to crash this patriotic love fest either. I love this Country, I love its history, I love the passion of the new administration and the direction they are moving the country. I am all for rallying around each other and moving forward, I don’t see a need to turn to Glen Beck to learn anything about being patriotic, but if it helps others then I am all for it.

Maybe next week we can learn ho to be tactful or learn how to treat pain from Mr. Limbaugh:)

Yea, after examining the rest of the website and looking at what the Headlines say and the message that Beck really is trying to get across, I can say safely say that this is just another conservative project aimed at throwing mud at the new administration.

Beck can say anything he wants about 10 or 15 point plans to bring people back to conservatism, but the direction his website has taken does nothing to seperate itself from any other conservative news page. Obama on Leno??????????? Whaaaaaaaaat???? Wow, big sep forward for patriotism there Beck.

I hate to be the stick in the mud, but I visited this website and am seeing the same headlines that I would see on the Drudgereport or any other conservative news information site. I'm sure that Beck means well, but his website has the same dribble that you see on any other Fox News reporter's web page.

Do I care that President Obama made NCAA picks? No. Does Glenn Beck? Apparently it is important enough to put on the front page of his new web site promoting patriotism.
