It is easy to understand why some Americans are less than ecstatic about sending so many troops to Afghanistan. This is after all the desolate landscape that broke the bank and the back of the Soviets. President Obama has a lot of faith in our military and the technology that will give us a different fate than the USSR in the late 80s. I think this new surge with an aggressive game plan, flanked by a sprawling diplomatic rush in the surrounding region is as solid of plan as can be expected at this time.
