This is after all the desolate landscape that broke the bank and the back of the Soviets. President Obama has a lot of faith in our military and the technology that will give us a different fate than the USSR in the late 80s. I think this new surge with an aggressive game plan, flanked by a sprawling diplomatic rush in the surrounding region is as solid of plan as can be expected at this time.
