The finishing touches are put on, and “The Thirsty Quill” prepares for launch with a late-night edition to usher in Election Day 2008…
In his article “The Most Dangerous Letters (Unleashing The Quill),” Corey Thompson argues that the American political spectrum has disintegrated into nothing more than a tug-o’-war between two opposing parties, and how this struggle is doing very little to bring unity, prosperity, and progress to our nation. Touching upon George Washington’s stern warning about political parties in his Farewell Address, Thompson reaffirms Washington’s message by discussing the paralysis in our modern government.
Multiple marketing tools are arranged, a free email subscription system is established, and a Networking Group is created on the popular social website ‘Facebook’…

Election Day 2008, the official “birthday” for “The Thirsty Quill,” sees a sweeping victory for the Democratic Party in America. In addition to the historic election of Barack Obama, America’s first African-American President, the Democrats tip the balance of power by picking up numerous seats in Congress, and by grabbing several Governor positions as well. ‘The Quill’ will have a great deal of work cut out for it in the years ahead…
In the article “One Voice, One Vote,” Corey Thompson lashes out at Hollywood’s leftist actors and musicians, and condemns them for using their power to influence the very impressionable minds of Americans who see them as societal icons, especially our youth.
In the article titled “Responsibility vs. Order: Using Sport As Analogy,” Guest Columnist C. Julian White draws a critical line between John McCain’s goal of reestablishing personal integrity and responsibility in America, as opposed to Barack Obama’s intent to establish control and order from a “top-down” position. White makes an outstanding analogy between both men and their plans by analyzing their comments from an interview conducted during the “Monday Night Football” game the night before.

America greets the dawning of the Barack Obama era in America, as John McCain very graciously challenges his supporters to support the newly elected President. Conservative voices begin to stir early in the day, especially across multiple fronts on talk radio and the internet. “The Thirsty Quill” experiences a very ‘high-traffic day’ on Wednesday…
Corey Thompson calls for the support of all of America’s elected leadership, yet he also seizes the opportunity to issue a challenge for Conservatives and Republicans to begin looking toward the future of the movement in “Where We Go From Here”:
While the time for “change” (according to the majority) has arrived at America’s doorstep, let us not have our spirits broken or disparaged in our fight for our ideals and values. As Americans, “The Thirsty Quill” encourages everyone, regardless of political ideology and party affiliation, to unite as one nation behind our newly elected leaders. The challenges that await our attention are not Republican or Democrat, nor are they Conservative or Liberal. They are American challenges, and we must all come together to face them with courage.
However, make no mistake, “The Thirsty Quill” will strive in the days, months, and years that follow, to help usher in a new era of “change” as well. You see, this is not an end to The Republican Party, nor to the Conservative movement. It is, in fact, a new beginning for our side of the aisle too.
“The Thirsty Quill” invites you to remain focused and committed to the challenges that await our ideology, our beliefs, and our core values. They, just like our divided nation and our bruised party, are in need of more of your enthusiasm today, than in any day ever before.
And as we close this chapter in our ideological history tonight, we greet tomorrow’s sunrise and change by a renewed affirmation in who we are, in what we believe, and what we’ll be fighting for first thing in the morning…
In a second article titled “Stoking The Fires Of Common Sense,” Thompson refers to Thomas Paine as the “original possessor of the thirsty quill,” in that Paine seized a valuable moment in our nation’s past to ignite a firestorm of ideological emotions. Thompson’s hope is that the urgency of the current state of the political landscape in America will encourage others to pick up their own quills and be heard.

In his article “The Black Eye Of Perception,” Guest Columnist Sean Flynn writes (with stinging sarcasm) about how the media created a biased and unfair perception of President George W. Bush that the American public sheepishly followed. Flynn went on to discuss the future of the Republican Party, which he referred to as the “new blood,” and how they (whoever they might be in the days ahead) need to help the party rid itself of “the scarlet letter” that cursed the GOP on Tuesday.

Corey Thompson released “The Thirsty Quill’s” first economic article entitled “Casting Ballots On Main Street vs. Casting Lots On Wall Street.” In it, Thompson discussed how the market is often a fairly accurate barometer of our nation’s confidence in regard to financial matters, security issues, and political leadership. The article concluded by pointing out that the NYSE had fallen nearly 10% in the first two trading sessions following Barack Obama’s election.
‘The Week That Is To Be’ at “The Thirsty Quill” (November 10-14, 2008)…
On tap at “The Thirsty Quill” this week, our writers will begin to break down the post-election “baggage” and analyze how the race was won, how it was lost, and how the new era of Democratic dominance in Washington will impact our divided nation.
‘The Quill’ will issue new challenges to Conservatives, calling for more concerned Americans to volunteer articles for submission and publication, and to find the ink and quill within themselves to speak up and be heard. Doing so will help stoke those fires for the ‘new blood’ of the Conservative Republican movement.
‘The Quill’ is also accepting recommendations for future articles and/or a potential series. The first such series is already in the works, and will address the issue of the future of abortion in America from multiple perspectives, as submitted by Pro-Life advocates on BOTH sides of the political aisle…
